Ask your child about the book they're reading.
Not whether they liked it. Ask what the main character actually wanted, whether they got it, and what it cost them.
If the answer is “It was good” — and then nothing — you've just found the thing report cards don't show you.
Reading trouble is quiet
A child can decode every word on the page, pass every school assessment, bring home a B+ or an A+ in English, and still not be building the thing that matters: the ability to hold an idea, weigh it, and say something back.
There is no letter grade for "can't say what they think."
So the gap stays silent for years. Nobody flags it. Then it gets loud all at once — in eleventh grade, as a test score that won't move and a college essay document that stays blank. By then the fix is expensive and the calendar is short.
We built our English program to close that gap early, while closing it is still cheap.

Seven of the eight Ivy League colleges now require a test score.
Dartmouth moved first in 2024, followed by Yale, Brown, Harvard, Cornell, Penn and Princeton. Columbia — the last holdout — announced its return in June 2026.
